Boldfaced or Theft... which is it?

A few days ago, a Good Samaritan in the Dr. Roz’s Healing Place community took time, money and desire to beautify the front of the building of the Healing Place. Dr. Roz’s Healing Place is a Centre for Abused Women and Children; women and children fleeing family violence. This community member voluntarily planted flowers in boxes at the front of the building.

His actions brought smiles, joy, tears, and an abundance of positive energy to the staff, clients and, I suspect, approval from passers-by and community residents.

Frankly, he contributed to the beautification of the neighbourhood.

I suspect that our donor walked away with a warm heart and a sense of giving and making a positive difference in the lives of others. I suspect that he believed that he was making a difference in the lives of the women and children who were fleeing violence when they came to reside at the Healing Place.

But early one morning at 1:55 am, a restless soul made her way to the private property of Dr. Roz’s Healing Place and stole the flowers and plants donated by the Good Samaritan.

We were all affected by the loss of these gifts and the beauty they created. Emotions vacillated from feelings of being shocked, broken, saddened, angry and disappointed. Someone described the invader as being boldfaced but I described the action as one of a Thief.

When I think of a boldfaced person, I think of one being brazen, cheeky, forward, or even, assuming.

When I think of one coming onto private property and removing belongings without given permission, I think of THEFT.

Please join us in improving the lives of our clients and enhancing the beauty of our community.

Please don’t remove our belongings.
