"Sistas Calling," an anti-violence, anti-racism musical theatre production captivated the audience from beginning to the end. The spectacular performances, enthralling storyline, and soul stirring music flawlessly fused together to create a thought-provoking narrative that captivated the audience.
The play's virtuosity is in how it combines entertainment, evokes profound emotions and ignites meaningful conversations about important subjects. Dr. Roz Roach's genius, artistic vision, passion and dedication to social change shine through every aspect of this production, making "Sistas Calling" a phenomenal play that confronts societal norms and fosters healing.
"Dr. Roz's stage production of "Sistas Calling" at The Aga Khan Museum in Toronto is a must-see and nothing short of spectacular! Sistas Calling” is based on a true story of a young immigrant woman’s healing journey from domestic violence, to personal transformation, self-love, and freedom.
“Sistas Calling” stands as a powerful reminder that violence against all women and girls is a global epidemic that hurts everyone and must be eradicated now. The sense of urgency and call to unity in this timely production is palpable. Woven throughout in rousing songs, scintillating rhythms, and poignant lyrics, is a beautiful homage to carnival, Afro-Caribbean heritage, and Sisterhood." - Rachel Abah
The show was amazing. I would give it 10stars out of 5. I continue to be amazed by all your talents. The music & dancing were extraordinary. I felt sorry for the girl on the stilts having to dance with them. Even Cecil showed some musical talent playing the bongo drums. The costumes were unbelievable. I am very happy that I was invited to see this performance. I was talking to a friend about your show & she mentioned you should approach the National Film Board to film your production. She watches many National Film shows for free on TV. Gary
